Angelina Wrona

From early on, Angelina’s paintings were inspired by early American portraiture and Japanime, (Japanese animation). Angelina’s enthusiasm for the Lowbrow art movement, also known as pop surrealism, with its subculture roots, is exposed as images from her subconscious appear as a juxtaposition of stories. Angelina’s detailed imagery and individual style has been described as exciting, gothic, spooky and even humorous as the exaggerated eyes of the subjects draw you into their unexpected worlds.
Born in Easton’s Corners, a small town in Eastern Ontario, Angelina grew up with her mind’s eye enveloped by creativity. From an early age she sketched, sewed, and re-purposed creations as her sense of design and style developed. After graduating from high school, she went on to train and then work as a Registered Nurse. She found herself often overwhelmed and conflicted by the touching and tragic situations to which she was exposed. Angelina can often be spotted at local auctions as she satisfies her curiosity of the history of odd and mysterious paintings and memorabilia. Angelina melds these worlds in the characters of her paintings and the incredible detail that surrounds them.
Angelina has gained an international following with shows in recent years from North Bay to LA. Her original paintings are actively sought by collectors in North American, Europe and Australia.
